Winds of the North

I am delighted to announce that Winds of the North, a brand new music education resource volume edited by Darrin Oehlerking and to which I contributed a chapter, is now available through GIA Music! The book is modelled after the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series but with a focus on Canadian composers and repertoire, and includes five chapters on contemporary issues in Canadian band music, as well as 85 resource chapters on individual Canadian wind works. My chapter is called “Decolonizing Wind Band Practices in Canada”, and offers some suggestions on how to de-center whiteness and unsettle colonial biases and mindsets in band pedagogy.
