The University of Toronto Wind Ensemble and music director Pratik Gandhi, in partnership with the UofT New Music Festival, present a concert of spectacular new music for wind band. The program will include newly commissioned works from Katie Semro and composer-in-residence Candace Bustard, as well as Steven Bryant’s cautionary tone-poem, The Automatic Earth, and James David’s tribute to hummingbirds, Flying Jewels. The concert will also include a tribute to long-time director of bands Dr. Gillian MacKay, who recently retired after 20 years of service and musical excellence at the Faculty of Music.
